This month has been a busy one for surgeries and medical problems. We have expanded the Shun Yi base in Beijing from 12 beds to 38 beds over the past 3 years and it is at a point that we will not be able expand any more than this. In Shun Yi, including the children in the Outreach Program , we currently care for 50 children. Our “waiting list” is down to 5 children. We have been informed of the possible adoption of 2 of our kids sometime this year and we wait expectantly for the families to come and collect their children.
Our hope now is to see if doors open in the poorer provinces to allow NHF to expand the work where children are most in need.

The children here are well and are being monitored regularly.
NHF Special Care Unit, Jiaozuo, Henan Province: (12 beds)
We have had 2 deaths here this month: Oliver Fu Zi Guo (congenital heart disease, Complex Chromosomal Syndrome); and Fu Gao Shan (Severe Cloacal Exstrophy) both died peacefully. We also had 2 admissions and our beds are full again.
Volunteers
Dr Lim and his wife (a nurse) from Australia volunteered here and their help was very much appreciated. Gemma R is back with us and she is currently running the unit
LWB Special Care Unit (12 beds)
We have dubbed this wing the Bouncing Bunnies wing (the other 2 wings are the “Nemo” and “Pooh Bear” wings) and a local artist has been in to paint Peter Rabbit murals on the walls. The unit is running well and Physiotherapy volunteer Bill C from the US has done a great job with the PT assessments and getting equipment. This is still an on going process but the kids and nannies are settled.
NHF Special Care Unit, Luoyang, Henan Province (45 beds)
We will travel there in the first week of May to work out the details of renovating and running this unit.
Our Most Sincere Thanks To
ISB students again this month, this time for supplying and planting flowers in our front garden.
The GE team for supplying and planting trees and shrubs around the new LWB wing.
The BFG for helping to clean the new wing.
Lysa J who flew all the way from the US to escort and care for Spencer Sam during his surgery in Hong Kong.
We thank Primavera for their continued annual support and all those who quietly supply funds for the needs of the children.
Our Needs
Please pray for Fu Jin Jin and Fu Zi Jiang as they fight infections that could take their lives, and for Dang Shang Qiang and Dang Fu Xing who are in Singapore having difficult, life-saving heart surgery and for their safe return to China.

We have 3 more children currently scheduled to have surgery in Hong Kong. We still need either a volunteer with foreign passports willing to take a child and care for him in Hong Kong, while he undergoes surgery. All expenses paid.
OR…
Families in Hong Kong who would be willing to foster a child short-term (2-3 months). Please email Joyce if you know of anyone who can help.
With gratitude,
Joyce and Robin Hill
“Love anything and your heart will possibly be broken. If you want to keep it intact… give it to no one. Wrap it carefully with hobbies, and… luxuries…. But in that place of dark, motionless, airless safety… it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, and irredeemable.”
