News – July 2007
Dear Friends and Supporters, We visited an orphanage in Southern Henan Province this month at their request to set up a Special Care unit for their at-risk babies. There is definitely a need there and we will do this as soon as possible. While waiting for the renovations to begin and staff to be employed and trained, we have arranged for 5 toddlers to have cleft lip and palate surgery with a visiting surgical team in Xian and we have brought 9 vulnerable, underweight infants from there to Beijing to prepare them for surgery. This month we admitted 12 new babies. Several more babies are in dire need of care. We will do our very best to find beds for them in Beijing. At this point, we care for 127 babies in total.
Hope Healing Home Shun Yi, BeijingAdoptions
Six children – Kailee, Joshua, Aurora, Teresa, Olivia and Aidan – have left us to be adopted and begin a new phase in their lives. Joshua, Teresa, Aurora and Aidan have had particular difficult health problems in the beginning but they have come through with flying colors. We have so many people to be grateful to for their survival. Beginning with those who found them in their orphanages and cared enough to seek the special care they needed, to the doctors, nurses and surgeons who helped us provided the medical care, the sponsors who provided funds, the nannies who loved and cared for them and of course the wonderful adoptive parents who have chosen to love them and accept them as they are, into their families to raise them as their own children. God bless you all for each life you have touched in your own special way. New admissions
These are our new admissions. Fu Ran was rejected for surgery early this year because of his asthma. We hope to get this under control so that he and several others can have surgery in November. Two of the children have heart conditions and one has a genital deformity. Zi Yang not quite 2 months old, with a hole in his heart, arrived in severe respiratory distress and has been admitted toBeijing United Family Hospitaland is on a ventilator. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers for his rapid recovery. Many others have severe ear infections and feeding problems but I am sure they will all do well with the proper treatment and care. Surgeries
Jennie was sent to Hangzhou for heart surgery but this was not done because of the high risk involved. We will have to re-evaluate what we can do for her. Sting went to Hong Kong for bowel surgery. Hopefully this will be the very last of his surgeries. Thomas had bowel surgery in Shanghai and so far is doing well.
Love Without Boundaries Shun Yi Outreach Foster ProgramNine children – Micah, Oliver, Alex, Bobby, Luke, Ryan, Mia, Elijah and Patrick – have been placed with families this month to enable us to bring in more at-risk infants. There are a total of 23 children in the foster program. Kailee and Olivia as mentioned above have been adopted.

There were 10 new admissions here and 2 children – David and Holly – have been put in foster care. We rejoice and give thanks for those who have survived the odds and also for those who have passed on and are now in a safe place. It is a privilege and an honor to care for these precious children.
Heartbridge Rehabilitation Unit (9 beds)
Two new babies were admitted this month. Bao Bao and Su Xin both with heart problems. Xin Jia was in Hangzhou and assessed for heart surgery but no surgery was done.
Our Most Sincere Thanks To
Our NeedsWith so many young babies coming in, we need help with the cost of immunizations for these children. We buy our vaccines at cost from International SOS, a Western clinic here. The cost of immunizing a child with all the basic childhood vaccines including Hepatitis A and B which is necessary in this country, is approximately US $350. We currently need help to immunize 15 children. The names and pictures of the children you support will be sent to you.
With our deepest gratitude, Joyce and Robin Hill
