News – November 2008
Dear Friends and Supporters,
This month Rob and I were invited to Tennessee to Show HopeAnnual fundraising dinner to promote Maria’s Big House of Hope as well as advocating for orphans. We were also invited to Hong Kong to attend China Orphan Outreach’s funding raising event and enjoyed a very pleasant, impressive musical evening. The surgeons and members of COO have been very generous, using their time, funds and expertise to care for many of our children. We are glad to be closely associated with both these organizations to raise the standard of care of the children.
On a personal note, November 28th was our wedding anniversary and we have been married for 21 wonderful years. We thanks God for giving us each other, to serve Him according to His will.
Hope Healing Home, Beijing
Matthew returned to Beijing after a complicated bowel surgery. He will need more surgery when he is fully recovered.
Adam remains in Suzhou, still not well enough to return to Beijing.
We sent Rona, Rubel and Oliver II to Hangzhou for heart surgery. Sadly Rona died in the Intensive Care Unit a few days after surgery and the surgeons decided that Oliver II was not a good candidate for surgery because of his progressive muscular disease. He has been moved to our Hospice care unit in Henan province. Rubel has been transferred to a hospital in Shanghai as they are better equipped to handle his case. Ben went to Hong Kong for bladder surgery and is expected to be there about 2 months.
Kobe, with a complex congenital heart condition and imperforate anus, passed away peacefully.

Maria’s Big House of Hope
(formerly known as “Show Hope Healing Home”)
Rob visited the site and they are nearly done with the internal fittings and painting. The next step will be equipping it then moving the first batch of children in. We will keep you updated.
Love Without Boundaries Shunyi Outreach Foster Program
Matthew II and Henry have been moved to foster care after their clubbed feet were fixed.

NHF Special Care Units, Jiaozuo, Luoyang and Xin Yang, Henan Province (75 beds)
These units provide humane and loving, hospice care for infants and young children with severe congenital defects who are unlikely to survive under normal circumstances. Those who survive are unexpected blessings.
Jiaozuo
Anfernee, a 10-day-old little girl, was admitted. Mike died peacefully.
Luoyang
Dwight, Miriam, Patricia and Lana passed away peacefully. Ned, a premature baby, Willow, Missy and Mikaela with a heart disease were admitted. Judah was sent to Zhengzhou for emergency surgery and is doing well so far.
Xin Yang
Penelope passed away and WC Chen, W Bo, WZ Zhen and WT Tian were admitted.
