News – January 2009
Dear Friends and Supporters, A Happy New Year to you all and a Happy Spring Festival to all our Chinese friends. We pray that the New Year brings renewed hope to those who have had a difficult 2008. Winter is always a difficult time for many of our vulnerable babies who succumb easily to respiratory infections. We are grateful to so many of you who continue to supply us with medications to help them. 4 babies were admitted to Beijing United Family Hospital this winter, needing help for serious lung infections. We are very grateful to the staff at the hospital for their assistance. We have employed several new nurses to help manage the Special Care units and they are now under training for the next few months. Visa issues are a problem for them at the moment but we continue to keep this issue in prayer and hope for some resolution soon. Chinese New Year was celebrated as usual with fireworks and traditional gifts of rice, oil and dried fish to all our local staff to signify that food will be abundantly available to their families this coming year. We now employ approximately 250 local Chinese staff and we appreciate each and every one of them.
