News – February 2009

Dear Friends and Supporters,

This has been a very gratifying month for us as we continue to receive news of several of our children being matched to adoptive parents.

The most exciting was news of Anna Gizella for whom we have been praying for a long time. Her medical issues would not have classified her has “easily adoptable” and we are so happy to hear that she may be leaving us to be with her new family.

We have been told that Justin, Emma, Sean, Jennie and Sting have also been matched.

Our work here is to take in children with special needs and also to care for those who are dying. The same way that the Father takes us in with all our imperfections, these kids deserve to be “taken in” with all their imperfections, regardless of the outcome. Our deepest gratitude to these adoptive families who have chosen our special kids to be their own.

Hope Healing Home, Beijing

Justin has had his heart surgery and is recovering in Singapore. We are grateful to the surgeons and staff ofKK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.

Lola has left for the US for heart surgery. We are grateful to the surgeons and staff of Maine Medical Center.

Ben has returned from Hong Kong after having his bladder repaired. He is happy to be home and we have missed him and it’s great to have him back. He had been away for a couple of months.

Adam was admitted to hospital in Hong Kong. He was born without an anus and after his first surgery in Suzhou, he developed complications which hopefully will be sorted out by his surgeon in Hong Kong. We are very grateful to the surgeons ofMedArtwho have assisted us with so many of our children like Ben and Adam.

Sean was admitted to the children’s hospital here in Beijing to have a repair of his hernia which had been causing him a few problems.

Adoptions

There have been 2 adoptions this month:

Hugo was returned to his orphanage at their request to await his family, and Jamie’s family was allowed to pick him up from our Home because of his complicated medical issues. We were beginning to be anxious about Jamie’s chances of being adopted because of his medical issues but all the anxiety was unfounded as he now is with the best parents we could ever have hoped for. They have kept us updated on his transition and it is going very well. We will miss these little guys very much.

Our Needs

Our Home in Beijing needs a new coat of paint on the inside. The building was last painted about 7 years ago and is now looking somewhat worn. The cost of doing this will be around US$3,500 with paints purchased at cost from Nippon Paint. We would be grateful for any donations towards this specific project.

Our Most Sincere Thanks

  1. Koerner Foundation and theOpen Arms to International Adoptionfor their continued support of the Xinyang Special Care unit.

  2. Primaverafor their continued financial support.

  3. Leaders’ Questfor their financial support.

  4. Nippon Paint who sold us paint at cost price.

  5. Dr Molly Spiller who spent a month with us training our nurses in clinical skills in all our units.

With our deepest gratitude,

Joyce and Robin Hill
