News – May 2009
Dear Friends and Supporters, I have to begin this newsletter with a big “THANK YOU” to all of you who have rallied around to keep us afloat so that we can continue to care for the children. You have responded in so many ways; by covering medical expenses, by donating funds, by passing the word around and by having you own ways of raising funds for us. So many of the children in our home are alive and healed thanks to the generosity of many of you. For this we are grateful. Your support is changing lives for good. We currently have 1½ month’s running-costs in the bank. Despite our financial concerns, this month has been a busy one with 6 children receiving surgery and a total of 10 new children were admitted in all four units. The work goes on.
Hope Healing Home, BeijingRihannah, Eddie and Mikeala who needed heart surgery went to Shanghai, and Wilson and Knox had bowel surgery also in Shanghai. Matthew went to Hong Kong for bowel surgery. Hopefully this will be his last. Justin is still in Singapore. We hope to have him back in about a month or so. Lola is still in the US having her bowel repaired. We expect her back in August. FL Min was admitted from our Jiaozuo Special Care unit to prepare him for cleft lip and palate surgery. He is still underweight for his age. G En was admitted from Anhui province with a severe heart condition and was found to be inoperable. She is receiving hospice care. A little boy aged about a year old with severe brain damage was abandoned at our gate one evening. Despite his defects, he was very well taken care of and someone obviously loved him very much. The note tucked into his blanket was from his grandmother who said that his birth parents had gone away and could not be found. She was no longer able to care for him. By law, we had to hand him over to the police. We pray for comfort for this old lady who loved this child and did her very best for him. The decision to abandon him must have been a most difficult decision for her.
Maria’s Big House of Hope, LouyangThe road to the building is being completed and the heating system is being installed. More equipment for the Operating Room has been obtained and installed.

LuoyangPaul, Lawrence and Agnes were admitted, bringing the total admissions of this unit to 206. Love Without Boundaries Heartbridge Rehabilitation Unit (18 beds)GZ Wei has returned from Shanghai after bowel surgery. He needs to go back in 2 months for a second surgery. HR Qun left for surgery in Shanghai for a very large cyst in the bowel. Please supportLove Without Boundariesin their efforts to help the children in China.
Our NeedsWhen asked what we need, the answer is always the same. Our very basic needs are funds, food and medical supplies. These are what keep these babies alive and healthy. God willing, with your support, all these needs will be met during these difficult financial times.
Our Most Sincere Thanks
With our deepest gratitude, Joyce and Robin Hill
