News – November 2009

Dear Friends and Supporters,

Rob and I were invited to attend the Show Hope Annual Dinner in Franklin, Tennessee this month where we were presented with their Hebrews 1:11 Faith Award. We are grateful and encouraged by the love and support of many friends in and around Show Hope, who have come alongside us in caring for orphans. We were especially blessed to meet up with 3 children, Simon, Jarrett and Joseph whom we cared for till they were adopted. All of them have settled well into their families and are deeply loved. Seeing the children and the results of this ministry has truly blessed us and has strengthened our faith. We have no doubt that God holds us and the children in the palms of His hands. We trust that our obedience and faith are pleasing to Him.

Hope Healing Home, Beijing

This month, Kelsie Rae, FD Hua, and A Ke received neurosurgery at Suzhou University Hospital done by MedArt/COO medical team from Hong Kong. We are very grateful for their help. Dr CP Yu is one of the best neurosurgeons we know who has helped so many of our children. We can’t thank them enough. Over the years, MedArt/COO surgeons and doctors have been wonderful in helping our children with not only neurosurgery but also bowel, plastic and urological surgery.

Knox and Rubel Jonathan were moved back to Maria’s Big House in Luoyang, and Micah was moved back to our unit in Xinyang to make more room for babies needing surgery in Beijing. They all have been healed and are awaiting adoption. They will be cared for by our staff in our units, hopefully till adoption.

Love Without Boundaries Shunyi Outreach Foster Program

We are devastated to announce that Rudy Andrew, a child who had received heart surgery a couple of years ago and was well and matched to an adoptive family, passed away suddenly in his sleep. His foster parents were inconsolable and our hearts go out to his potential adoptive family. This is the second time in 11 years that we have healed and raised a child to the point of adoption, had so much hope for the future, then without warning, we have lost them. This is something we will never understand. We pray for comfort for all those who grieve for Rudy. We are all grateful for the delight that he has been to us. Matthew 5:4 says “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted”.

Kaleb has been moved to this Outreach program to make room for another baby. His braces will be monitored during regular visits. He will be cared for by a family who has cared for babies with clubbed feet before and they will do a good job.

Patrick has also been moved to the Outreach program while waiting for adoption.

NHF Special Care Units, Jiaozuo, Luoyang and Xin Yang, Henan Province (75 beds)

These units provide humane and loving, hospice care for infants and young children with severe congenital defects who are unlikely to survive under normal circumstances. Those who survive are unexpected blessings.

Luoyang

(Maria’s Big House of Hope)

Belle and Peter passed away peacefully. They had several birth defects. Lynlee also went home to be with her Maker – she died peacefully, loved, and cared for. Leo was transferred from Jiaozuo to Luoyang for surgery to repair his hernia and he is doing well so far.

Jiaozuo

Daniel and Jimmy were admitted and will require surgery. Miguel, a premature baby aged 3 days, was barely alive when he was admitted to our unit. He survived only 2 hours.

Xinyang

(Alexandra Yeo and Open Arms Children’s Foundation Unit)

Gerald was admitted in a grave condition after bowel surgery of unknown condition. He passed away peacefully 6 days later.

Love Without Boundaries Heartbridge Rehabilitation Unit (18 beds)

Grace/Chloe has been adopted. We will miss this little princess. Nathan, a premature baby, was admitted. He has a long way to go but we will do our best. Jackson with a heart condition was also admitted.

Our Needs

  1. We are in need of funds to cover the transport and nanny care for Kelsie Rae, FD Hua, and A Ke (pictured above) who went to Suzhou for neurosurgery. The cost for each child was approximately US$650.

Our Most Sincere Thanks

  1. We thank Johnny C for responding so quickly and meeting our need for our security system.

  2. We thank JT for the gift of a new car in Beijing and Show Hope for the gift of a new van in Luoyang.

Travelers Needed

We are in need of travelers from the US and UK to Beijing to help bring in much needed supplies for our children. None of these supplies are “restricted items” and do not have to be declared at customs. The items will be mailed to you within the country. New Hope Foundation staff will be at the airport to pick up the supplies in Beijing.

If you able to help or know of other travelers who are willing to help please contact the following:

a) From the US: Rebecca Dorris, Tennessee, Phone 615-371-5221
b) From the UK: Jennifer Drake, Surrey

With our deepest gratitude,

Joyce and Robin Hill
