Luoyang Special Care Unit, Henan Province

Working with the Luoyang Children’s Welfare Institute we have been able to expand the work that started in our Jiaozuo Special Care Unit.

The Luoyang Children’s Welfare Institute has given us their 5th floor which has been renovated and opened in September 2006.

This unit cares for up to 45 babies who are severely disabled and many of whom are born with conditions that are incompatible with prolonged life. The unit is staffed by New Hope Foundation employees with up to four resident foreign medical volunteers in charge. The babies who come into the unit will be comforted and fed, and if they do die they will do so in a loving environment. The babies who do not die will be cared for in the chronic care areas and will receive the very best care and physical therapy we can give them.
